Review of the opening tournament Saturday, March 25, 2023 of the individual committees

Lustrum committee

After deliberation, the board and the TC decided to continue the opening day. The weather in Amstelveen is always exciting! The decision turned out well! It was a beautiful day that ended in rain later in the day outside but made nice progress inside. Our chairman Milko received the first gadgets, a handy sports towel for the seniors and a practical water bottle for the juniors. The seniors were offered a cup of coffee or tea with an anniversary cake. The youth a delicious muffin with lemonade. If you couldn't come, still come to the club if you want the towel, see the collection times on the website tile!

Technical commission

We are allowed again..! After a week of feverishly checking the weather forecast and keeping our fingers crossed, it was finally possible. The season opening! Nice to see so many tennis players back on the courts and beyond. Fortunately, the Old Stars did not let the weather stop them and were the first on the track with enthusiasm. The new members were warmly welcomed (by Erwin, among others), and they also left their first traces on the gravel of the Startbaan. We enjoyed participating in the Clinic, given by part of Gemengd 1 and Wim. The atmosphere was good, after a long winter there was clearly a lot of desire to go outside again. It took some searching in the schedule, but with a pair of extra eyes and luckily there were always enthusiasts who wanted to play an extra round, we can look back on a very successful day. On to a great outdoor season!

OldStars

Around 9.45 am the first OldStars were already present on the Startbaan, eager to play on the outdoor courts again! At 10 a.m., 4 courts were occupied with the usual warm-up and warm-up, after which the first games of the new summer season were played in 2 rounds of 45 minutes. Not all OldStars were able to play, but afterwards they came to drink a cup of coffee, eat a cake and pick up the anniversary gadget, a towel with anniversary logo. One more time to play indoors in the NTC and then the group will start again on Thursday, April 6. training on the outdoor courts from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Everyone is looking forward to it!

New Member Committee

It was a successful meeting. A total of 12 new members came to play, 1 viewer and 2 fans who had heard that there was a walk-in. Always nice to get enthusiastic newcomers on board.

Youth Committee

Our youth toppers braved storm, rain, cold and also some sunshine during the opening tournament. Unfortunately we had to cancel the youngest youth of red and orange. With the strong wind it is impossible to get the ball over the net. They are still in for a nice tournament. Everyone started in good spirits. We have seen beautiful rallies and exciting competitions. Very nice to see that everyone has improved so much during the winter months. The green ball children were still able to participate in the clinic of Xander, Björn, Wim and Rachel. Unfortunately, the day was brutally disrupted by heavy rain, meaning we could not play all the matches.
