How is it?

I am Marcel Wegloop, 49 years old, married to Leslie and we have 3 daughters, Lara, Mila and Dana. I was born in Amsterdam and we have been living in Amstelveen for over 20 years.

What do you have with tennis and sports?

I have been playing tennis since I was nine years old and I have been a member of LTC Startbaan for about 10 years. I am a big sports fan of literally all sports and follow everything. My favorite sports are football and tennis.

Wie is Family Cars?

Family Cars is a car company located in Amsterdam South East, near the AMC hospital and on the same site as the Praxis and the Gamma. I founded the company in 1994 when the demand for MPVs started to increase. From the start, we have specialized in larger cars such as the Chrysler Voyager and the Renault Espace. Nowadays we no longer only have large cars because it is easier to advertise and draw attention to different types of cars via the internet. We also have a workshop where we can carry out maintenance on all makes of cars, from just MOT to a major service. But you can also contact us for tire to air conditioning service.

Why did Family Cars choose LTC Startbaan?

Because we are members of the club here with our entire family, I feel very involved. Leslie and I also play competitively and we always participate in the open tournament and the club championships. Through this sponsorship I try to contribute to the (financial) health of the club. And if we still have customers as a result, that would of course be very nice.

What could be done differently and/or better at our club?

The recent changes at the park are already a very good step forward. It would be nice if the courses (or some of them) could be played all year round. The problem with youth is that there is a fairly large group of very good tennis players, but there are only a few players at the level below, which means that those children drop out more quickly because they have no one to play with.

What would you prefer to see your sponsorship contribution spent on?

As just mentioned, I would like to have a number of courts that can be played all year round.

What can Family Cars do for the members and/or vice versa?

To start with, it would be nice if people who need maintenance on their car would want to do so via Family Cars. If desired, members in Amstelveen can use our pick-up and return service, so that they do not waste time driving back and forth. If someone is ready for another car, they are of course very welcome to make an appointment to see if we can help.

I hope that the club has a good future and that everyone will continue to enjoy playing ball for as long as possible.
